The Well of Souls

This is a long slow meditation music release based on a Kabbalistic meditation about the soul's journey at night. Expect long tranquil passages, some sweet harmonies, some mysterious melodies and some sharp, harsh sounds... since the journey is not without its fearful moments and dark challenges.

Planetary Survey Team 11: A Musical Exploration of a New Found World

This meditation album release is about the exploration of a newly discovered planet, and about the concept that perhaps, planets, like persons, have souls. The music composition was constructed using twelve string guitar, classical guitar, base, bamboo flute, drums, horns, and numerous sound making implements. The music is very dynamic and full of shifting patterns, sometimes sweet and and sometimes harsh, sometimes straightforward and often mysterious, as one would expect of a whole planet. This composition was created at an early phase in my development, but it remains one of my personal favorites for the sheer variety and scope of what it contains.

Textures of Life Insensate

This meditation music album was created as a tribute to the idea of "Musique Concrete" which holds that music is not really a human creation at all, but flows to us from reality through participating in the life of the world. This music composition is constructed from voices, banging wood, clanging metal, buzzing paper and of course, from classical and twelve string guitar. It is one of my most unconventional pieces. You may find yourself reminded of early Zappa, The Residents, or early Pink Floyd. Mostly, you may find yourself thinking about Edgard Varese, who was Zappa's mentor and inspiration.

Moshe Glick  /Tales from Elsewhere

An easy listening collection of solo classical guitar compositions.

Moshe Glick began studying music at an early age, and by his teens was composing music for classical guitar that startled and amazed his conservatory faculty. Moshe went on to do other things, but always kept files of his early compositions, both in written form and as recordings. Moshe was strongly influenced by Mike Oldfield and Mark Knopfler. The recordings he made were of poor quality, but they were good enough for a stroll down memory lane. When I eventually, through experimenting with my ambient music compositions, I learned how to play with wave files, filter out noise and enhance sounds, I took it upon myself to upgrade Moshe's old work into new releases. Moshe and I now present these new age music releases for your appreciation. We hope you enjoy them.

Coffee at Abby's Windowsill 5:45 AM: Dreams of the Metropolis

This meditation music release came out of my early morning experience of New York city, as I sat at my daughter's windowsill sipping coffee. The first part is played on twelve string guitar, and it is a pretty gentle piece. The other parts that follow try to express the power and energy of the metropolis arising from its sleep. There are parts where I attempt to synthesize city sounds (especially the subway) using acoustic instruments. (I only use acoustic instruments in my music compositions, by the way...) In the last part I use a Spanish style melody on the classical guitar that flies around crazily and degrades as you hear it, to illustrate the way in which the city breaks itself down and reconstructs itself.

Shards of Sun on the Forest Floor

One day my son Moshe and I did a little jamming on acoustic guitars. He played the twelve string guitar and I played the nylon string guitar. I also added some bamboo flute and some slide guitar. We were thinking about a walk in the forest as we played. This is a pretty bouncy music composition with lots of melodies and bits of melody intertwining and coming apart. Much like falling leaves and buzzing insects, with the whole experience merging harmonically at the end. Well, that is what we had in mind. This is a very early composition for me. I have played extensively with it to make it sound the best I can.

Stone Droners

There is an interesting story here. A few years ago, a young student called Joseph lived in the northern Negev village overlooking the desert. Strangely enough he discovered Drone Music and other kinds of Ambient music compositions. Bedouin have traversed the area for ages, and Joseph was taken by the way they play simply constructed instruments with great passion. Joseph thought to himself that Drone music could be created with just such instruments. He set about purchasing or constructing various instruments. The Bedouin themselves were not much interested in drone music, so Joseph set about recruiting some friends for the project. The resulting group eventually made contact with me, and we tried to record a few sessions. It didn't go well, mostly because The Band wanted it really LOUD, and I couldn't figure out how to make it sound both loud and good. Eventually I put out a LP length recording for a short time called "The Shepherds Tale." The band didn't like it at all, so they didn't want it out in their name. Time changes many things, as as part of my reassessment of earlier works, I revisited the Shepherds Tale. This time the Band was pleased! So I am pleased to release the expanded and revised this Drone Ambient Music Composition, proudly flying the banner of Joseph and the rest of Stone Droners.
